Like all Soy Shakers, the Şakirt has an outer body made of pure copper and silver, with the notable difference of sporting an elegant brass cap combined with a spin-fused stainless steel strainer.
The reason for this is the namesake of the Şakirt, the city and province of Çanakkale, divided like the copper and silver of the shaker between Europe and Asia by the mighty and gracious Strait of Dardanelles, where the invading armies were just as gracefully *capped* with prime Turkish brass, back in the Great War.
Entirely handmade by spinning and hammering massive 1.5mm Pure Copper -yet ensuring perfect vacuum- and plated in thick 50μ of pure silver on the inside and on both sides of the small module, this shaker has namely two VERY important advantages over its stainless steel counterparts:
1- Its solid construction from thick copper and silver ensure that the drink is cooled not only from the ice used to shake it but also from the metal walls of the shaker, and this in a matter of milliseconds after you start shaking, finishing your cocktail 2-3 times faster than any conventional shaker.
2- The sheer weight of the product, as it is manufactured from 1.5mm copper instead of 1mm steel, gives you ultimate control over your shaking, letting the container direct the move and not the liquid inside it.
3- Most important of all, the fact that the product has walls from Silver, makes any kind of Dry and Reverse-Dry Shaking processes obsolete, as Silver will react with the protein chains and foam-up the cocktail right away, whether it contains ice or not, and this, in a matter of mere seconds.

Silver is by far the most conductive metal on Earth. Copper is a close second! This is because silver and copper only have one valence electron, which is free to move around with little resistance. As a result, both copper and silver are fantastic electric and thermal conductors.
What it entails for cookware is that the heat coming from the heat source will not heat the cookware locally (from where the fire hits, typically a spot in the bottom) but wherever the heat source hits the silver / copper product from will not matter as the heat will travel all over the cookware including the walls and the lid to radiate the heat inside just like an oven would do it.
Practically that means that if the copper and silver are thick enough, no hot-spots can ever form on copper and silver cookware items, even on top of the highest BTU’s of industrial stoves, meaning the pan / pot will be naturally non-stick.
The absence of hot-spots due to perfect heat distribution will also come much in handy when cooking very sensible material that would burn rather quickly (finely chopped vegetables, rice dishes or butter for example) as one will not have to constantly stir, since all parts will be cooked equally – as opposed to inside a steel pan /pot, if not stirred heavily, one part will burn while another part will stay uncooked.

- Given the nature of the metal, both copper and silver will change color and tarnish as they get used & upon contact with air, water, and acidic ingredients.
- This is totally normal and doesn't affect cooking properties.
- They are still safe to use and there is no health risks.
- If you want to get them back to their original state, just rub your Soy with a lemon sliced in half, covered with table salt or baking soda.
- Rinse it with warm water, dry it and voila!
- As with cart-iron skillets, a light coating of oil before storing protects it over time.
- This method works on both copper and silver.
- You can also clean your Soy with ashes (cigarette ash, fireplace ash, etc.).You can also always use food-safe silver polish.
